Am HaTorah has been in the residential Bethesda area for over three decades. It is a close-knit Orthodox synagogue where all Jews are welcome.

Am HaTorah's growing membership consists of sincere individuals who are committed to maintaining and building a Torah-true Synagogue in Bethesda, Maryland. It is a dynamic group of thinking and talented professionals, engaged in understanding Torah philosophy, ethics, and concepts through open and honest dialogue.

Rabbi Yehoshua Singer, who joined Am HaTorah in 2014, has brought renewed vibrancy and excitement to our community. Under his leadership, Am HaTorah has implemented a wide array of new programming for its members and affiliates. Examples include:

• Weekly classes in Talmud, Mishnah, and Jewish philosophy
• Weekly Lunch & Learn in downtown Bethesda on lessons from the week’s Parsha
• Monthly enhanced Shabbos programming including a full schedule of services, additional classes and a women’s gathering
• Communal Shabbos inaugurating the High Holiday season with multiple classes, a full schedule of services, and a luncheon
• Sukkos game night - a night of Torah thoughts, relaxation and friendship
• Community-wide Chanukah and Purim events including live music, entertainment, and children’s activities
• Sunday guest lecturers on various topics of interest
